"Welcome to Eastwood Pet Portraits. I specialize in creating hyper-realistic, hand-drawn tributes that capture the unique spirit and character of your most cherished companions.
Using only the world’s finest museum-grade, lightfast colored pencils, I translate your favorite photos into timeless works of art. My process is defined by an obsessive attention to detail—from the specific texture of a pet's fur to the soulful spark in their eyes. Every piece is an archival-quality heirloom designed to be a focal point in your home for generations. Based in my professional studio, I am proud to offer custom commissions and insured shipping to pet lovers nationwide."

I work from a reference photo to create a beautifully detailed, custom pet portrait. A great reference photo, therefore, helps me create the best picture of your pet and ensures that I can do a detailed drawing that is just right for you. While I can sometimes work with less-than-perfect images, generally speaking, the better the reference image, the better the result I can achieve for you. Additional photos can also help me capture your pet's character and likeness.
A high-resolution photo will capture your pet in more detail.
Your pet should fill the image so that I can see all the details clearly. I recommend taking a picture of your pet from the front at eye level.
A well-lit photograph will help capture your pet at its best. Make sure it reflects the correct coat colour and that the eyes are visible. Taking a photo in natural light is ideal but well-lit rooms can work well too.
Select a photo where your pet is in the pose that you want me to reproduce. Try to get one that captures something of their unique and wonderful character.
How do I start a commission?
Email me at joanneleastwood@gmail.com and send over a few high-quality photos of your pet. We'll discuss the best pose, size, and lighting to ensure we capture their true personality.
What kind of photos do you need?
The more detail I can see, the more detail I can draw!
• Lighting: Natural outdoor light or a bright room is best.
• Focus: Close-up shots where I can see the "spark" in the eyes and the direction of the fur.
• Angle: Eye-level photos usually result in the most soulful portraits.
How long does a portrait take?
Hyper-realism is a slow process. Depending on the size and complexity, a portrait can take anywhere from 20 to 50 hours of drawing time. My current turnaround time is typically 4–6 weeks or your current lead time.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes! I ship portraits to all 50 states. Every piece is insured, tracked, and packed with professional materials to ensure it arrives at your door in pristine condition.
What materials do you use?
I use museum-grade, lightfast colored pencils, primarily Prismacolor Premier, on archival, acid-free paper. This ensures your portrait will stay vibrant and won't fade or yellow for over 100 years.
